Supply-Sided control over Tourist Streams: The Pedestrian Guidance System of Bamberg.
Conference Paper about the pedestrian guidance system in Bamberg.
The System consists of three elements:
- Information Points with a detailed map of the city centre and explanations of all major sights and other places of interest. These points are installed along the major pedestrian incoming routes to Bamberg.
- Signposting with a strictly limited number of individual signposts only indicating the three parts of the city and sights within your area.
- A free printed city-map with the same detailed cartography as the Information Points

World Heritage Cities in the Conflict between Tourism and Heritage Preservation: The Example of Bamberg.
Conference Paper. It is notable that many WHC spread over five continents suffer from similar problems, some of which are accessibility to monuments and sights, infrastructure and traffic problems (e.g. coaches), conflicts in the touristic city centre between tourist catering shops, restaurants, hotels and the local population.
