Who is Matthias Ripp?
Hello! My Name is Matthias Ripp. I graduated with a degree in historical geography (i also studied preservation science, historic building research, urbanism and social planning) from the Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg.
Since July 2005 i am the manager of the Documentation Centre World Heritage of the City of Bamberg.
Besides this i am working to obtain my PhD on the topic of "New management models in UNESCO World Heritage Cities to sustainably Establish Internal and External Network Facilities."
When i started research about UNESCO World Heritage i found out that there is quite a big number of institutions, researchers and media dealing with the subject on a world-wide level. I found it time-consuming to get a general idea on the subject.
Therefore i started this webiste where i would like to support the exchange of information on UNESCO World Heritage topics and UNESCO World Heritage Sites and set up a starting point for people who are interested in these issues. In the Weblog i am reporting about new developments, conferences, etc. in the field of UNESCO World Heritage.
A part of my scientific work is to examine existing networks for World Heritage Cities. Therefore the exchange with other scientists, journalist, etc. is very much welcome! Coments in the weblog are very much appreciated. If you want to report about Issues related to UNESCO World Heritage, or about a UNESCO World Heritage City you know, you can write your own weblog article in this blog. Here you can find the instruction.
Here you can get in contact with me. Questions and ideas are always welcome!
If you want to learn more about myself, please refer to my curriculum vitae.
