Already since the year 2000 ICOMOS is trying to to raise awareness on endagered cultural heritage with its Heritage at Risk Programm.

Now the International Council on Monuments and Sites published a special edition on UNDERWATER CULTURAL HERITAGE AT RISK: MANAGING NATURAL AND HUMAN IMPACTS.

In the introduction the background of UNESCO's Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage is explained.

Most articles are dealing with shipwrecks, few with other elements of the underwater cultural landscape like historic fish weirs or fish traps.
