This year the International Day for Monuments and Sites on 18th of April will focus on Industrial Heritage:

We call on ICOMOS members and professionals in the preservation field to make this day a global success. Industrial heritage, like other cultural heritage sectors, is threatened all over the world. Factories, plantations, forges, mines, railways and other forms of industrial heritage are markers of the workplace and production, having equal importance to the religious and domestic sites which are often given priority. Industrial heritage is, in general, at risk of loss through destruction and abandonment, endangering some of the greatest testaments to the creative genius of humanity.
