Shanghai
This view, often representing Shanghai, is only showing the Pudong New Area, a small part of the town which was developed only in the last 15 years. There you can find for example several big luxury hotels, a new conference centre, the famous Oriental Pearl Tower, the Aquarium, Shopping Malls, etc.

Famous Nanjing Road, one of the most important Shopping Streets in China.

Park Hotel from the 1920s, the first prospering period of the city. Originally this bulding was used by a bank.

Traditional houses used to have 3 storeys.

Modern flats are usually built in high-rise buildings. In the outskirts around town luxury single homes are built.

In the last years an efficient subway system was built along with a number of flyovers.

But still the bycicle is used a lot to transport goods.

A number of markets are catering for various needs. Here you ca see a tea market.

Located in the centre at the people's square is an interesting exhibition about Shanghai Urban Planning called the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall . Among other interesting objects you can find there a 600sqare meter big model of the city.
