Building in the Historic Centre of Gent
Gent is not in the UNESCO World Heritage List as a large ensemble. But there are singular buildings, that are in the list, like the Belfort (Botermarkt 17) and the béguinages. But there is a large building project going on in the heart of the city, keeping the facades alive, but totally remiving the inner parts of the houses. So far I could not find out, what this will develop into.
On the first small picture you can see the houses on the opposite of ther canal (Korenlai).

Here, closeby the famous view of the city with the different towers.

In the Background you can allready spot the cranes.

View on the Project.

The facade, that is kept was printed on foil.

The facades rest upon a frame, while behind a new building is constructed.
How is your opinion on this sort of buidling preservation? Do you think this is a adequate way of treating historical substance?
