Annual Conference with Focus on the Interaction of Tourism and the Preservation of Monuments in World Heritage Sites.

From 18th to 19th of August the annual conference of the
Unesco-Welterbestätten e.V. was held in Brühl. The media showed substantial interest in the nearby situated World Heritage Cologne cathedral, which was recently put on the red list of threatened world heritage.

From September 7th. to September 11th i will participate in a ICOMOS Conference in Bergen. After that I will be on holidays in Spain.

Report about the ICOMOS & OWHC Conference that took place on the 8th of September 2004 in Bergen, Norway

The conference dealt with topics around the subject world heritage sites. Among other things issues about authenticity, the Outstaending Universal Value (OUV) (a concept that can help to identify possible World Heritage Sites out of »normal« heritage sites), and about the implementation of buffer zones around the World Heritage Sites were discussed.

Suzhou is a town 2 hours west of Shanghai. In 1997 the >Classical Gardens of Suzhou< have been listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
